I was so excited that a Turkish grocery store opened just a block from my apartment.

They have the yogurt I love in 1kg and 5kg containers.

After almost 2 months, they have cut back in items available for sale, prices have gone up between 30 and 90%.

It's still cheaper than major shops, but it's kinda sad.

I guess they realized they wouldn't make enough money or the demand was so high they decided to increase the prices to increase profit.

But I'm happy for now. No more single pack yogurt or รฎ Euro price for 1kt ones. Plus these are much tastier than those fake Greek yogurt they sell in the shops.

They don't have Bulgarian feta cheese so I still have to go to Nice or Cannes for those.

Finally after long time searching, found the Bulgarian feta cheese at reasonable price.

Went to Cannes and visited 4 different shops before I found one who is selling not just north African or east Asian products, but also west Asian, Turkish and in this case Bulgarian stuff.

Bought 3 grocery bags of "stuff", total was the highest amount I've spent on groceries since my family moved to US. But they will last me several months.

How to use Googleโ€™s built-in shopping list (and why you probably should NOT use it)

Bild/Foto
Where do I start? Itโ€™s just possible that no-one at Google actually goes shopping, and itโ€™s clear yet again that this app is just another after thought that will get abandoned in time. It does allow one to create multiple lists (per shop in other words) but everything is just added in one long list which can be alphabetically sorted or kept in the order you added it. Really!!! No manual re-ordering, and no grouping into shopping aisles or categories?

There are also no quantities to be set, or prices, or notes, or photos per item. The app came out a few years back and Iโ€™ll bet many donโ€™t know about it. Even the average todo type app will do a better job for shopping lists than this offering.

Iโ€™ve long been using Our Groceries app, on both Android and iOS, and it has all my shopping very well organised, including being able to tick items off on my Apple Watch, as I shop. I also did a video overview, just this week, of the Grocy ERP app that does a much better shopping list than Googleโ€™s one.

Yes, the Google Shopping List has Google Home integration, but then so does Our Groceries app.

Grocy โ€“ a Web-Based Self-Hosted Groceries and Household Management Solution for your Home

Bild/Foto
Grocy can help manage not only shopping lists based on inventory, recipes and meal plans, but also chores, tasks, equipment manuals with notes, and batteries that need to be charged or replaced across devices. A key part of its inventory management is keeping an eye on expiring products which could be just thawed out of a freezer, or could be medicine stored in a first aid kit, etc. It can also monitor how much wastage you produce from spoilt products. You can use all of its integrated features, or just a single feature if you want to keep it simple.

It will easily run on a Windows PC, or in a docker container, or easily installed under cPanel on any Linux VPS hosting.

This video gives an overview of what Grocy does, as well as a tour of the interface and features, and the settings menu.
