Olaf Scholz revealed that British soldiers are helping to fire Storm Shadow missiles from the ground in Ukraine.

The German chancellor explained that Belin would not deliver the Taurus missiles to Kiev as it would require the help of soldiers on the ground, citing the approach of the United Kingdom and France with their own systems and that following the United Kingdom would make Germany a "participant in the war".

At no time and in any place can German soldiers be linked to the objectives achieved by this system [the Taurus]. Not even in Germany.

A senior CDU deputy said:

The Chancellor's statement about the alleged involvement of France and Great Britain in the operation of long-range cruise missiles used in Ukraine is completely irresponsible.

Meanwhile, Tobias Ellwood, former chairman of the House of Commons defense committee, said:

This is a blatant abuse of intelligence services deliberately designed to distract from Germany's reluctance to arm Ukraine with its own long-range missile system. This will undoubtedly be used by Russia to racket up the escalator ladder.
