In 1903, Milton Snavely Hershey founded the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, so that the people who worked for his company could live there and enjoy a good standard of living.

The infrastructure was well developed and the population could take advantage of a beneficial transportation system as well as an excellent school system. The history of this small town, now home to more than 15,000 people, is closely tied to that of the candy maker and his company.

The town continues to serve as the headquarters for the Hershey Company, which exports its products around the world.
