Up close and personal with this Broad-handed Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa latipes) at Pulau Ubin, Singapore, on 26 Oct 2019. It kept returning to this perch so only some patient waiting was needed to get the shots.
A large solitary bee, it isn't aggressive and as long as you don't threaten it (like waving and attempting to smack it), it will rather just fly around you.

Got startled by a bird call next to me at the Pandan River, Singapore. Turned and was delighted to see this male Common Flameback woodpecker (Dinopium javanense) on the tree. It was busy looking for food and calling out and paid no heed to the excited photographer nearby. :-) Shots taken on 15 Oct 2019.

A Lineated Barbet (Psilopogon lineatus) spotted at Jurong Eco Garden, Singapore, on 12 Oct 2019. There were two in the trees but only managed to get shots of one.
It is an uncommon introduced resident bird.

A Crescent Threadtail (Prodasineura notostigma) spotted at Windsor Nature Park on 6 Oct 2019.
A small damselfly, this one was sensitive to my movement and frequently took off. I had to keep still and let it return to its perch before I could take the shots.

Saw the Black-throated Sunbird (Aethopyga saturata) several times during our stay at Fraser's Hill, Malaysia. But like other sunbirds I've seen, they don't make it easy to get shots, constantly moving about under the shade of branches while calling and feeding.
At least this fellow was willing to stay in one place for long enough to get some shots. Taken on 18 Nov 2018.
