#migraine

Today, I had an apparent #migraine without #aura. That's unusual for me. 90+% of my migraines announce themselves. Since this one didn't, I had no opportunity to circumvent it ahead of the pain. I still took a #sumitriptan as soon as I realized what was happening. And it worked. But ... I got one of the fun side effects. As in, extreme somnolence. I fought to stay awake for maybe 30 mins. Tried to lie down and read for a bit.

That attempt failed miserably. Next thing I knew, my bladder was waking me up, urgently. ~2 hours had passed since I was last aware of anything. I'm still feeling hung over, but the pain was gone when I awoke. It's been about 2 hours since I woke up.

Migraines are so much fun. Ugh.

Rough morning today. Started okay, then suddenly started vomiting around 9:30. Headache later. Migraine? Unusual presentation for me if so. Now feeling very chilled, though that's honestly not really unusual. Outside temp is 78F (26C). Inside is 73F.

I ate some dry toast about an hour ago, and it stayed down. Drinking some hot tea to try to warn up my core temp. Sometimes I hate my body.

I woke this morning at 4am with a massive #migraine already in progress. Easily an 8 on the (relatively useless) pain scale. If this one had an aura, I slept through it. Ugh.

Got up and took some Tylenol. The pain has moved from acute severe to chronic annoying. Yes, Tylenol. Can't take NSAIDs due to #CKD. No Rx meds for the migraines as they don't occur often enough to meet the criteria. 🤷‍♀️

Lovely afternoon. TMI.

First there was extreme vertigo, accompanied by excessive sweating.

Less than a minute later the projectile vomiting began. That continued for 30 to 45 minutes. That settled down about an hour ago. haven't tried to even take a sip of water since it finally stopped. I'm afraid it'll start up again if I do.

Such a fun time. Now the migraine is beginning to manifest.

The past decade have witnessed the rapid development of acupuncture research about migraine, and many high-quality papers have been published, especially after 2016 (He et al., 2022).
Acupuncture research has grown markedly in the past two decades, with a 2-fold higher growth rate than for biomedical research overall. Both the increases in the proportion of RCTs and the impact factor of journals support that the quality of published research has improved (Ma et al., 2016).
