ArsTechnica pissing me off was a good opportunity to highlight the client side filtering capability in Relatica. You can hide or put behind warning flags based on: sender, hashtags, keywords, or domains. If warning than can toggle showing the post/comment. A demo: #relatica #friendica #fediverse

The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client (v0.12.0) has just been released. This has some big updates including: being able to reshare Bluesky posts, a "focus mode" that lets you lock down the UI to only let you post/edit/comment on your own posts, and fixes for stuff that changed in the latest Friendica release from last month, and some other smaller bugfixes/tweaks. It is in review in the Apple Testflight for iOS and macOS as well as in the Google Play beta system. Downloads for Android, Linux, and Windows are on the install page of the main project. See the CHANGELOG on the project page for more information about this release too. #relatica #friendica #fediverse

I’m hoping to have a new Relatica release out in the next week or so to go with the latest Friendica update. There are a couple of changes in responses from the server which make some things a little wonky. Most noticeably are channels and groups show up in timeline lists. #friendica #relatica

I'm continuing to dabble with Focus Mode for Relatica (a Friendica client). In focus mode one can only write new posts and see their "My Posts" timeline. I'm considering further restrictions like: don't show reshares (so only authored posts) and don't show activity counts. #relatica #friendica

The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client (v0.11.0) has just been released. This has some big updates including: better support for Bluesky and Threads content, the ability to limit yourself from sharing/commenting on/liking content from specific networks (like Threads, Diaspora, etc.), spellcheck on mobile platforms, showing network data for all posts/comments and federation delivery status for your posts/comments, and lots of other bugfixes and smaller features. It is in review in the Apple Testflight for iOS and macOS as well as in the Google Play beta system. Downloads for Android, Linux, and Windows are on the install page of the main project. See the CHANGELOG on the project page for more information about this release too. #relatica #friendica #fediverse

Not to jinx myself but I've been on a roll with Relatica work this week. I had a few things I wanted to finish before pushing a new release but using the app while out today I really missed some of the 2 UI tweaks, 12 bug fixes, and 8 new features. So new release soon #relatica #friendica #fediverse

Friendica users that have been using the Relatica mobile/desktop client, I've added sorting of notifications by type. I want to make sure I see mentions in the sea of likes/reshares. It will be configurable. I'm thinking it should be on by default. Thoughts? #relatica #friendica #fediverse

Because Friendica supports many network types, not all of which reshare well, and there is sensitivity around boosting content from networks like Threads, I've started dabbling with giving users the option to toggle network capabilities in Relatica. For example, if a user was on a server that linked to Threads and they wanted to see and like the content but not comment or reshare so that other servers wouldn't have the Threads data pushed to them this would help them ensure they don't accidentally do that. Similarly, Diaspora reshares don't federate well to some other networks (Mastodon yes, Pleroma no) so perhaps I'd turn that off to not accidentally reshare Diaspora content. I'm intending to roll this out with the next release to see how it works in practice. #relatica #friendica #fediverse

The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client (v0.10.1) has just been released. This primarily fixes a problem with the botblocker plugin in the latest Friendica release candidate before it goes to production. It is in review in the Apple Testflight for iOS and macOS as well as in the Google Play beta system. Downloads for Android, Linux, and Windows are on the install page of the main project. #relatica #friendica #fediverse https://gitlab.com/mysocialportal/relatica/

The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client, version 0.9.0, has just been released. Along with a slew of small bug fixes and tweaks this release now has a mechanism for viewing, filtering, and exporting the log events generated by the software. This will help users interact with developers (well me right now) in diagnosing problems on their system. This release also has the long requested feature of opening up tag searches on the user's home server not the remote server when they are clicked on. This is available for Apple and Google stores for those in the test program (ping me if you want access) and should have approval in the next 24 hours. Direct downloads for Android, Linux, and Windows are available from the install page. #relatica #friendica #fediverse

The latest beta of the Relatica mobile and desktop Friendica client, version 0.7.2, has just been released. This fixes a bug in initial OAuth authorization the first time a user tries to connect to an account which has cropped up in the latest release candidate of Friendica. While it is fixed already it was still good to make the change to the client anyway. The Install file can be used for installing Android, Linux, and Windows version. Apple has it in review for iOS and macOS users so should be available within the next 24 hours. If you would like to join the beta on Apple platforms feel free to DM me here, on Matrix, or in the Relatica Matrix room. Using #relatica with recent #Friendica versions and the web client in parallel already is quite a pleasant experience. Now all it probably needs is notifications to replace Mastodon-API clients here. 🙂

To all Relatica app users, there is a regression in the Mastodon API endpoint in the latest release of Friendica with respect to reshared posts. Essentially reshared posts will show up in your timeline but any interactions with them will not work. This will manifest as things like when you "like" a post it doesn't change status, not showing the comments listed, etc. I had a new 0.5 version of Relatica coming out soon anyway. I'll try to create a work around that works specifically for servers running 2023.04 of Friendica. I'm tracking the issue at the below link for Relatica. It has a link to the Friendica GitHub issue as well. #relatica #friendica https://gitlab.com/mysocialportal/relatica/-/issues/25

I present the first named release of the Friendica mobile/desktop client: Relatica. It is still very much a work in progress but I'm going to start opening it up for beta usage (early beta). For iOS that will mean me letting up to 100 people into the inside testing team (Apple's limit). For the other platforms I'll be posting binaries/packages/install instructions for Android, Linux, macOS, and Windows in the coming days as well. I also setup a Relatica Matrix room for interactive discussions with me and other users. The README on the GitLab repo will have all those sorts of details.
