Google Stadia game streaming platform is shutting down – many just don’t want to try new Google products anymore

It was nearly three years ago when Google formally launched Stadia, a cloud gaming service accessible on most products that had an internet connection. Today, Google announced its plans to wind down the service and permanently shut it down. Despite being a great service, the main reason for the shutdown was that it was not gaining as much traction with users as Google had hoped.

Because many of us before had put our heart and soul into using Google Reader, Google Plus, etc and then they get shut down. Google has a serious challenge convincing people to adopt it’s new products. Even RCS messaging has many thinking it may too die in a year or two.

We all get that some products don’t make it, and it is good to try out new things, but Google has been getting a reputation for shutting down services that millions had adopted in their daily use. Maybe being 2nd or 3rd place in the market is good enough? The reason being too that none of these products are central to Google’s reason for existence, which is actually search. Many other companies rely on their main product for their survival so cannot just shut it down if it is not number one in the market.
