I'm not a doctor, so cannot qualify this article at all, but it is certainly interesting, and I am aware that the brain requires fat and cholesterol to work well. It is difficult to judge what triggers what side effects because often dementia or memory loss is just ascribed to 'old age' even if the patient has been taking Statins for a while.
But the World Health Organization study on trends in cardiovascular disease with relation to average cholesterol vs death rates is certainly food for thought. BUT always consult with your doctor if you're considering changes, or discontinuing any prescribed medication.
