Stupid prediction time for me and Andor
SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS ANDOR
I find it almost amusing how everyone is so sure Luthen was telling the truth, when he was manipulatively lying left and right to Lonni. Luthen's character is more complex than that.
Luthen was LYING when he told Cassian Andor how much he meant to him. In fact, Cassian was disposable to him.
Luthen was LYING when he told Lonni that Kreeger's 50 men are disposable compared to him. It's the lie that Lonni needed to hear. Just like he was lying that he wasn't involved in Aldani, and he was lying when he said Dedra was wasting her time hunting "Axis".
The truth is that he's going to directly risk his own life and the future of the Rebellion to try and save those 50 men. Why? Maybe it's because he's "slipping". Maybe it's because he still cares despite all the years he's hardened himself to this supposed equation of inevitability.
This show ... the writing ... has already shown us that Luthen Rael is more complex than the simple clarity this speech suggests. It's a lie. It's a front. It's what Lonni Jung needs to hear, to get him moving and keep him moving.
