Psalm (Song) 38

Prayer for Yâ-hwéh to favor the repentant errant one over false namers
1. A song of Dâwíth for a memorial about the Shabbâ ́th. Yâ-hwéh, do not reprove me during Your wrath, nor discipline me in your rage, 2. because Your arrows have penetrated into me and Your hand has come down upon me. 3. There is no soundness in my flesh due to the presence of Your indignation, there is no peace in my bones due to the presence of my error, 4. because my depravity (lawlessness) has passed over my head like a heavy burden, it is too heavy for me: 5. my wounds stink, they fester due to the presence of my foolishness! 6. I have been bent over, I am extremely humbled down, all day long I go mourning, 7. because my life (néphesh) is filled with dishonor and there is no mending in my flesh. 8. I am afflicted and I am extremely contrite, I yell from the groaning of my heart! 9. My Sovereign, in front of You are all my longings and my groaning has not been concealed from You, 10. my heart palpitates, my physical strength forsakes me, and the light of my eyes, even they, they are not with me: 11. my loved ones and my friends from nearby stand away and my closest ones stand from a distance, 12. And the ones seeking my life strike at me and the ones seeking my harm, they have dictated 'engulfing ruins'(93) and they plot treacherous deceit all day long; 13. But I, like a deaf one, I don't hear it and I am like one unable to speak, who does not open his mouth; 14. So I have become like a man who does not listen and there are no objections in his mouth, 15. because it is for You, Yâ-hwéh, I am waiting in hope for, You are Who will respond, my Sovereign, my Power, 16. because I have said it, lest they should arrogantly rejoice against me. Whenever my foot slips, they have magnified themselves against me, 17. though I am limping, I am firmly established, and my pain is continually before me, 18. because I do declare my depravity (lawlessness), and I am concerned due to my error. 19. Yet my enemies are vivacious, and are more numerous than I, and the ones hating me of the Lie are multiplied. 20. And the ones repaying me evil in the place of goodness, they antagonize me for my pursuing goodness. 21. Do not forsake me Yâ-hwéh my Power, do not be distant from me, 22. Hurry to my assistance, O Sovereign of my deliverance!

(93) LXX has here Strong's #3153 "vanities", perverseness, depravity, devoid of truth, and Masoretic has here Strong's #1942 which relates to the false name substitute they use in place of Yâ-hwéh's name. Apparently Dâwíth was hated by those hating Yâ-hwéh's name.
