Put a bear's head on a dachshund's body, and you'll get something pretty close to a Bush Dog. One of the smallest and rarest wild canines, it is the only living species of its genus, and its closest relatives are the maned wolf and the African wild dog. Endemic to Central and South America, this elusive diurnal predator usually lives in small packs. Together, a pack of these tiny ankle-nippers can take down much larger prey, like peccaries, rheas and capybaras, but they typically hunt rodents like pacas, agoutis, and acouchis. As also seen in some breeds of dogs, their partially webbed toes make them great swimmers.
