What a film this is!

I first watched it in the theatres when it was released in Norway, and I've watched it again numerous times times afterwards. Still, this is one film I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching.

Mind you, this is David Lynch at his absolutely most surreal, so it may not be everybody's cup of tea. The first half is pretty straight forward, though. Fred and Renee obviously have some issues with their marriage, and when some mysterious video tapes start appearing on their doorstep things get even more uncomfortable between them.

And uncomfortable is the keyword here, especially in this first half. The stiff dialogue, the long silences, the bland decor of their apartment without any things to reflect their personality, everything just reeks of discomfort.

The second half of the movie seems to throw us into a completely unrelated story, although some of the characters and bits of dialogue seem familiar. This is where the film starts to become strange, and many may fall off. I recommend to stick it through though. While seemingly unrelated, this part actually explains what happened in the first part.

The film is visually stunning. Every scene and every shot is beautifully composed and accentuates the dreamlike reality of the film.

Highly recommended!

MULHOLLAND DRIVE DE DAVID #LYNCH, OU POURQUOI #HOLLYWOOD DOIT DISPARAÎTRE - #Blast
