It’s not the first time that the controversial #fashion label has appropriated everyday items and used them as farshun, having released a replica of the big blue Ikea bag for a cool $2,847 back in 2017. Fortunately the #Balenciaga chip bag is a little more reasonable at $2,750.
The New York art collective MSCHF has created a "Microscopic Handbag," based on a Louis Vuitton design, which sold for over $63,000 at auction. The bag, less than 0.03 inches wide, was made using two-photon polymerization, a 3D-printing technology for micro-scale parts. The handbag, smaller than a grain of sea salt, was sold with a microscope for viewing. MSCHF, known for its provocative art projects, suggests this creation is a commentary on the fashion industry's trend towards impractical, brand-signifying mini bags.
