Twenty-three years ago this week, the #Khiam detention center in the South of Lebanon was liberated from Israeli occupation.
The facility was used by Israeli occupation forces until they withdrew from Lebanon in 2000. Human rights organizations ranging from #Amnesty International to #HumanRightsWatch reported the use of #torture and other serious human rights abuses at the facility.
World-renowned British journalist Robert Fisk reported that "the sadists of Khiam used to electrocute the penises of their prisoners and throw water over their bodies before plunging electrodes into their chests, and kept them in pitch-black, solitary confinement for months. For many years, the Israelis even banned the #RedCross from visiting their foul prison.
