Part 2 / Lowell George Delight
(Lyrics are below &/or on the video)
Seeing that vid was what reminded me of of so much that he and his friends brought to American music.
An intro to Little Feat too... Enjoy! Happy Sunday or whenever day. 🎶. Isn't the Internet lovely?

Earlier I posted a live session with Bonnie Raitt and Lowell George doing Winwood's Can't Find My Way Home.
That was a 1972 'bootleg' from the studio, totally live. Bonnie makes a point of calling (the late, great) Lowell George "cute!"
50 years ago as I post this! (2022) Remembering Lowell George now, who like Duane Allman, went way too soon. :(
The YT gods just smiled on me and served this up, from that same exact era, but with the focus on Lowell and his song. It's (IMM) one of the most beautiful songs out of Little Feat, almost like a Michelle, or Angie. The Feats were always the ultimate studio musicians, super-tight, like Steeleye Dan, say, but more emphasis on the rhythm & guitar section than orchestral arrangements.
Anyway, for anyone familiar or not with Little Feat .... Here the song raw and new and plainly shown, again, sort of like "Get Back" or that Raitt bit. Real, and well recorded overall, especially in the recording studio rather than radio setting. But live takes.
Here is a song which - like Willin' and a few other country crooners, and the beautiful All That You Dream, - is both sweet and well arranged. When this song came along, their studio (vinyl) albums were highly polished; they were at home there, not touring much.
Long story short: I'm serving this up first, as it just hit me over the head and inspired me to share the video and the back-story.
AFTER you watch this ancient (1/2 century) old filming of the early days of this song, where you can see Lowell George like few have...as songwriter. After you see this song, I recommend you see/hear how it finally came out. Polished, and he can play the guitar.
Lyrics to enjoy the early version with below. Plus a few references at the end of the end.
Long Distance Love
Oh, hello... give me missing persons, they said
"What is it that you need"?
I said, oh, I need her so
They said you've got to stop your pleading
And no matter what I do, even pray to heaven above
All you'll ever get from her is
Long distance love
I read the papers
And I got the Blues
I was so sad to hear the news
Help wanted, but not enough
You know these times are gettin' rough
'Cause no matter what I do
I even pray to heaven above
All I ever get from her is
Long distance love
Whoo, oo, oo
You know her toes were so pretty
And her laugh so sweet
I wonder does she know
Does she know she hurt me so?
'Cause no matter what I do
I even pray to heaven above
All I seem to get from her is
Long distance love
Ohoo, long distance love
Ohoo, oo, oo
-Lowell T George
