MARCH - DEDICATED TO HOME
*'Josh, The Extraordinary Plumber' arrived yesterday with a Drain Snake and fixed the clogged bathtub drain.
- "Flat Tape Drain Snakes: These are flat, ribbon-like drain snakes used for clearing smaller, flexible pipes, such as those found in sinks and showers."
1st. He removed the drain stopper. The main problem was my hair clogging the drain. Then he used a Drain Snake to clear any hard water build up in the pipe. If these simple, easy to repair plumbing problems are not fixed in their early stages - huge problems develop. That's why there are so many massive water leaks - terrible plumbing disasters, in the 8 story building where I live.

Josh fixed the problem in a matter of 20 minutes, but I'll still be charged $100.00 basic 1 hour just for him for him to come out. I asked him to instruct me on how to remove the drain stopper, so I can check on a clog myself, and then put it back in place.
2nd. The lid on the toilet seat had a broken hinge. He also instructed me how to remove the enter seat, where to buy a new one, what kind it was, and how to install it.
- Today is dedicated to cleaning, sanitizing and polishing the bathroom fixtures, tile floor, tiles in the shower/bathtub area, the walls, and light fixture and mirror.
I prefer to do my own cleaning and dirty work - but what I can't do myself, I will hire someone. It has taken years just to find really great tradesmen like Josh for plumbing, Brett for windows, and Miguel for sheetrock and painting repairs. Each man is worth his weigh in gold. There is also a fantastic electrician who has helped me with electrical problems. And, 'Michael, The Computer, Data Recovery Archangel.

MARCH - DEDICATED TO HOME
Today 'Migel The Master' has finished repairing the damage done to the living room ceiling and a wall due to a water leak coming down from somewhere above my home. His work is amazing because he's not greedy, is a perfectionist and takes pride in his work. He's also fast because he knows what he's doing, doesn't mess around, and has a loving wife waiting for him at home.

He cleaned up very well, but there's still a thin, unavoidable layer of sheetrock sanding dust everyplace it could land. That's okay. I plan to clean and polish all surfaces, and of course, it's better to do it AFTER the repairs. I bought two new pair of Latex- free cleaning gloves.
While waiting for a layer of paint to dry, Migel put together my new lightweight Oreck XL commercial vacuum cleaner. I had managed part of the assembly, but he did it in a matter of minutes and gave me instructions on how to use. it. In the past I had given him my previous heavy duty Oreck, still great, but it had become too heavy, and hurt my lower back. Members of his family are using it.

On Monday, Erik is arriving to clean all of the windows. 6 windows, double planes. 24 window planes all together. I love clean windows, even if there's not much to look at but asphalt, traffic, concrete and tall buildings.
I may be poor, but I can be clean.

British right to repair law goes into effect today but doesn’t cover smartphones or computers

The law requires manufacturers to make spare parts available to both consumers and third-party repair companies, and it applies to any product bought starting today. Companies have a grace period of up to two years to make spare parts available whenever a new product is launched.

As reported by the BBC (via 9to5Mac), the purpose of the new law is to extend the lifespan of products up to 10 years in order to benefit the environment and consumers. It aims to tackle “built-in obsolescence”, which is when manufacturers deliberately build products to break down after a certain length of time has passed.

Spare parts won’t be available for everyone either, as some parts that are not easy to replace will only be available to professionals who can make those fixes. In the case of dishwashers, the replacement of a PCB in a dishwasher can only be sold to a professional, and those parts only need to be available for seven years.

Really, a PCB board is held with screws or plastic lugs and has a few wired connectors that plug on! And sorry this does nothing then as those PCB's must be designed to change out easier otherwise. So I suppose this is only a half-hearted start, and not going to make any real impact yet.
