The problem is that Russia has 3.8x the population of Ukraine. Unless Ukraine's losses are vastly, vastly disproportionately less, Russia can afford to bleed at a high rate longer. They also have a huge weight of old metal behind them and have ramped up their shell manufacturing such that they're able to shell Ukraine at 8-10 to 1. Last estimate I saw based on Satellite data is that Russia doesn't run out of tanks for another 2-2.5 years.
