When I saw the images of this great blue heron (Ardea herodias) walking on a sandbar at Gulfport, Mississippi, that song by the Bangles from the 1980s - "Oh-way-oh Oh-way-oh."
"In Ancient Egypt the figure of the grey heron (Bennu or bnw) with a long beak and a double feathered crest was surrounded by mythical associations.
