Hey!
Sometimes I am unable to react to a post. The problem appears to be with specific users only.
Here is an example where I tried to comment.

I am, however, very happy with #diasporg .was just wondering if I was the only one with this error?

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Problem: when I go to #sundaypov page, I only see my own 2 posts if I'm connected to my account on diasp.org, and I see all 4 posts if I'm not connected to my account. Other tags -- eg #povray -- seems to work fine. This problem occurs on PC Debian running Firefox, or running Epiphany [aka Web]. It's also true on Android cellphone running Firefox or running FDroid/Dandelion.
The other #sundaypov user @tTh using another pod, can see everything fine.

Question: I'd like someone having a diasp.org account doing this test:
- create a post, containing "#sundaypov test"
- go to #sundaypov tag page (just click on tag to do so), and check if only your post is visible, or more. Please tell exactly what.

Other pods user is welcome to check this test, too.

At the moment, there exists only 4 posts: 2 from me, 2 from @tTh.

Thanks for helping. ;)

Thanks again to the #diasporg users supporting their pod with a few bucks where and when they can. Also to the moderators and support folks for your continued help with tickets and reports, I won't call you out like always, but feel free if you like!

For 2022 I did not run any campaigns like years past, I simply asked folks for help on signup or on coming back to the pod and on the menu on the left and ended up again having enough money to pay the bills for diasp.org for the year. I did this all via a few scripts and the lift for me was light and donorbox.org did all the hard work for payments. Next year we will try the same plan.

If you have been watching https://fediverse.observer I have spent the free time I have had this year writing more code there as the fediverse has grown and keeping that as fast as I can with much more data and the UI needing to keep up and hopefully be a useful tool but mostly just to keep my sanity as somehow writing PHP is free therapy for me.

I usually update this diagram but nothing again has changed since 2021 https://b.diasp.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Network-diagram1.png

Happy New year all!

I don't do much #OC (original content) here, but #diasporg is a delightful medium for presenting. You may have noticed I post a lot of memes about civil and human rights and ways to gain independence and personal freedom. Why would I set aside privilege gained from a deeply conservative family and a long senior career on this journey? I joined the internet in the early 1990's in college and finally a community on Reddit showed me I could transition and be myself. I am a #transgender woman.

I wish I had a choice, but from my earliest memories, I knew my path in life was going to be of a horrifically difficult minority. I was different growing up. Very different. It was crippling anxiety and when puberty hit, my back was on fire from the stress. I didn't have the language for it back then, but this was my journey. Some describe it as a homesickness, slight, but always aware of needing to find a path home. It never ever goes away unless we are on the path. I started physically transitioning 11 years ago and relieved that many don't have to wait decades and risk never having lived before we die. I look back and amazed how I survived.

Several years ago, I sought help socially transitioning as relearning habits and muscle memory from a lifetime of hormones has a great effect on how we present ourselves. Muscle memory profoundly composes our voice and facial appearance. Relearning how to walk those specific muscle groups dramatically changes the muscle tone of our face from masculine to feminine. It was hard.

My therapist introduced me to a group of transgender women that helped show me, "this is much easier than you think!" And they were right. These women were of my age, senior in careers and education, engineers, scientists, managers, and veteran military officers. We would have a large immediate circle of friends and transitioned fast. Most of us gave up the past life completely and quickly grew into our dreams. We helped each other when our families didn't and were able to advance in our careers. Many may see those who transition as weak, but our vulnerability allowed us to focus better on where we wanted to go in our careers.

Many have lost their families as their spouse may have been strictly heterosexual and as our bodies change, our smell and physical appearance does too. My ex told me that I "would not make a good looking woman" and emphasized she was straight. Even though she was an inspiration, we had to part ways so I could start my new life. Before puberty, I had been attracted to guys, but the hormones would turn my world upside down. But after all these years, I was able to overcome all that. I look back fondly at my dreams and memories, realizing I am fortunate have to made this journey and lived and not died.

So...if you see me posting memes about human rights, it's because I have a vested interest with everyone gaining freedom from oppression. I share a dark history on the front lines of political madness and one of the first victims of #fascism. If there's a war, it will find me first.

Never argue with an idiot (a.k.a. difficult people).

They’ll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

"How to Deal with Difficult People. There’s no way of avoiding difficult people. We work with them, we live with them, and we are related to them. Because there is always conflict when we encounter difficult people, we might as well learn how to deal with them."

After 13 days off-line diasp.org is back! (This is a repost, which I will explain below)

Many thanks to @David Morley for his tireless efforts getting the pod back on line!! Thank you too to all the pod members who made donations while it was down to help get things running again!

To the rest of the #fediverse #federation - it is good to be back.

For those of you who missed the story, the short version: On 5 April 2021 there was a power interruption at the server hardware provider for Diasp.org, WebNX in Ogden, Utah. The back-up generator kicked in just fine, then caught on fire. The resulting fire suppression efforts by the fire department shut everything down and also took out a swath of the servers with water damage. Yeah, good question, who fights electrical fires with water? The diasp.org server was one of the servers that was water damaged, it seems. It was going to be a long time before service was restored, perhaps weeks, months or never so our pod admin, David, moved us to a new service provider and just finished getting it up and on-line. So we are back. Miss us?

and now an update and explanation as to why this was posted again.

After the above original post the hard drive on the brand new diasp.org server quit and had to be replaced. It was corrupted and so we lost all the diasp.org posts made in between the two failures. I managed to recover mine from synches over at joindiaspora.com, so I am just going to repost them here again. Sorry for any duplication that causes.

I closed public registration on #diasporg in hopes that will push new users to other pods and help distribute things out more. You can of course invite your friends to the pod with your invite link if you like or send them to http://podupti.me so they can find one close to home!
