Star Wars Theory: We Were ALL Lied To - Daisy Ridley Confirms it
This confirms what I've been saying all along about the Disney Star Wars trilogy. Daisy Ridley confirmed that they were flying by the seat of their pants the entire time. I've compared Kathleen Kennedy's chaotic management style to Kevin Feige's management of the Marvel franchises and how he pulled off the highest grossing movie in history with a carefully crafted outline that was strictly followed for 10 years. I don't blame Bob Iger for not wanting to be around when this all came out.
This follows the bombshells John Boyega dropped last week about all the hate mail and tweets he got after being the first face we saw in the original Force Awakens trailer. He said Disney leaned hard into using his face to market the movie to certain communities in which they wanted to raise ticket sales, only to then let his and Kelly Marie Tran's characters die on the vine because they couldn't figure out how to use them.
I'll speculate that Boyega's later defense of JJ Abrams probably indicates that the final cut of the Force Awakens was quite different from JJ's original script. Remember that JJ created Finn and gave him some great scenes in ep 7. My guess is that some very significant (downward) modifications were made to Finn's screen time after Kathleen Kennedy saw the raging tweet storm reactions to the "black stormtrooper" in the first trailer, which came out well more than a year before the actual movie. I think JJ was ordered to deemphasize Finn because Kennedy was risk averse.
