#gmail is not #email .. Gmail is Google and Google is a Pentagon Gulag that harvests emails of non-GMail useds [sic] for industrial espionage. Don't transmit any important email to/from Gmail or #microsoft equivalent (Microsoft's is breach by default, so espionage is borderless)
The article below really describes the Takeout method, but in many cases that is really not easily usable elsewhere. Thunderbird installs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and will connect to your GMail and fully sync that mail offline for you. This allows you not only to have a fully searchable offline repository of your mail, but it will also connect to any other mail service, allowing you, if you so wish, to use other mail providers whilst retaining all the history of your older e-mails.

I received the protonmail alert mentioned in comments
I'd written a set of shell scripts to simplify the task of feeding RSS feeds to multitail, and wanted to share that with the developer. Packaged them up in a tarball with some quick notes. Hit "send".
Gmail apparently doesn't like receiving tarballs to send. Sigh.
OK, how about uuencode?
Included that inline. It seemed to get out OK.
I'm just hoping that kids these days know what to do with it on the other side ....
