Settled #weather is caused by the presence of a #HighPressure region of #air which often stays for days at a time (depending on where you live). This means that the air is quite still and so atmospheric #dust and #pollution from cities stagnates and gets pushed down into low-level layers of the #atmosphere. It causes #haze but also deeper #red #sunsets.
#HighPressure has been dominating the #weather over the past few days with settled, #sunny and hot conditions. But now #air from other regions is moving in as is evidence by these #clouds this afternoon. The undulations are caused by oscillations in the layers of air as warmer and cooler air mix.

Over the past few days the #weather has been settled owing to there being a #HighPressure region over us. The #pressure is now dropping and air from other parts of the world will start to rush in and inevitably, different air masses, at varying temperatures and humidities will mix. This sets up perturbations in the #atmosphere and steady #TemperatureGradients get perturbed and so, instead of having #clouds with flat undersides, they start to show undulations (spatial oscillations).
This evening, this is the what part of they #sky is looking like.
Here's a view in a slightly different direction. I think there is a certain grandeur to these beautiful forms.
