Hi Diaspora community! I haven’t been around for some years, but I always kept this pod running because I liked to support the project with the spare resources we had. The Vereniging ORXNet supplied the hardware and internet connection for the server. Many thanks to them!

Everything was running on spare resources, but they are now being repurposed. Also, I don’t have the time anymore to relocate and maintain the server, so time is up for pod.orkz.net unfortunately! I was considering colocating here http://pauperhosting.nl/ * , but after good reviewing I decided not to ;) (Dutch joke)

Starting next week, no more backups will be created of #pod.orkz.net. It will shut down on the 15th of january 2023.

You can export your (profile)data in your settings.

It was great to be able to host this pod for this long. I hope you find a good alternative place to hang out!

Hi everyone. #pod #orkz keeps crashing from time to time and I have to manually bring it up again. Unfortunately I really don't have the time to dive into this problem, so a fix for this is months away I'm afraid. I would love to have another podmin with Debian experience to help me with this pod. It's not the resources that's a problem only the time to maintain it.

So, I'll just fire it up everytime it crashes, but this could take more than a day sometimes. It's a shitty service for a social network, but it's the way it is right now, sorry... :S

After a major #crash of the main server that's running multiple VMs including #pod #orkz I've managed to reinstall the server from backups. 3 out of 4 harddisks failed! There's no #RAID that can catch that... Fortunately the two SSDs where still intact, so database was up in a jiff. Hooray for SSD! :) I still have to move the data partition to SSD, so this pod might be a bit slow for now. Working on it.
