ASSYRIAN EMPIRE
I love all the images and information provided on the Wikipedia website. You will see the **Assyrian Rosettaon the bracelets of royalty, gods and even on the bridles of royal horses. It is also carved on other works of art. I have been unable to find the origin of the Assyrian Rosetta and its meaning. The design of the Rosetta (rose) Windows of the Catholic Church struck me as being similar. There might be an ancient connection, or no connection at all.

On 12 November 2014, after a ten-year journey through the Solar System and over 500 million kilometres from home, Rosetta’s lander Philae made space exploration history by touching down on a comet for the first time. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this extraordinary feat, we celebrate by taking a look back over the mission's highlights.

Rosetta was an ESA mission with contributions from its Member States and NASA. It studied Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko for over two years, including delivering lander Philae to the comet’s surface. Philae was provided by a consortium led by DLR, MPS, CNES and ASI.

https://mastodon.social/@markmccaughrean/112802224871780716 markmccaughrean@mastodon.social - Long before #Rosetta & 67P/C-G, there was Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 & its devastating 1994 encounter with Jupiter.

I was privileged to be part of the team that made & released the very first images of Fragment A impacting at ~20:15 UTC on 16 July, 30 years ago last night, as seen from Calar Alto in Spain.

The brightness of the impact plume was a huge surprise & the following week saw intense astronomical, media, & public engagement.
