The desk features a wood frame topped with Forbo linoleum, which Blu Dot chose to bring warmth and an opportunity for colour. The powder-coated steel legs are colour matched to the tabletop.

A wraparound gallery creates a feeling of cosiness and privacy for the user, while the slim steel legs make the piece look light and suspended in space.

Three Big Sur Low coffee tables by Simon Klenell and Kristoffer Sundin for Fogia

Dezeen Showroom: glass artist Simon Klenell and carpenter Kristoffer Sundin aimed to combine their preferred materials to striking effect when designing the Big Sur Low coffee table for Fogia.

Described by Fogia as "confident and elegant", the Big Sur Low table has a thin tinted glass top sitting on smooth wooden legs.

The furniture piece is named after the Big Sur area of California, which is characterised by the meeting of rocky cliffs and blue ocean.

Similarly, the table combines wood and glass to create an intriguing interplay of colours and textures, while its transparent top creates a sense of lightness that belies its generous size.

"The beauty of Big Sur Low is the exciting contrast of glass meeting wood, and how the transparency of the glass allows the table to come alive by its surroundings," said Klenell and Sundin.

Big Sur Low's glass top is available in a choice of four colours – transparent, green, brown or anthracite. The legs come in Fogia's standard oak finishes of oiled, lacquered, light, wenge, smoked oak, black, grey, white, dark blue and dark green.

The table features a tactile, beveled-edge lid that lifts off completely to reveal a hollow interior for storage. The base is padded with felt to make it easy on flooring.

Moci was awarded furniture of the year in RUM Magazine's Swedish Design Awards 2022, which commended the table's balancing of the straight and the curvy, the firm and the soft, and the light versus the bold.

The table is available in two sizes, with lengths of 240 or 280 centimetres.

Sjöberg is a recent design graduate discovered by Asplund while she was still at the Carl Malmsten Furniture School, and Moci is developed from one of her final student projects.

Tables and chairs from Koster outdoor collection by Studio Norrlandet for Skargaarden on a patio

Dezeen Showroom: Studio Norrlandet has designed Skargaarden's Koster collection of outdoor chairs and tables to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.

With Koster, Studio Norrlandet wanted to produce a set of outdoor furniture that would pass the most stringent load and durability tests – while looking like something that founders Jari and Anna Visuri would want in their own garden.

Among other things, the furniture was tested to see if it could withstand high winds on a skyscraper roof without blowing away.

"We were looking for a comfy, uncomplicated, beautiful and simple design," said Jari Visuri, who is also founder and CEO of Skargaarden. "Chairs that are easy to sit in, even when you have a lot of chairs close together around the table."

The resulting Koster collection incorporates a chair, bar stool and tables in three sizes, all made of teak wood with UV-resistant rope seats and backrests.

The pieces have a Swedish sensibility, which extends across all Skargaarden products, and can be left outdoors year-round.
