Hemp fabric by Camira

Hemp fabric by Camira

Dezeen Showroom: made from one of the world's most carbon-sequestering crops, the Hemp fabric by Camira is designed to showcase a rich variation in tone.

First launched in 2012, Camira's Hemp fabric is made from a blend of wool and hemp fibres, combined into a classic weave.

Hemp fabric by CamiraThe Hemp fabric by Camira is a classic of sustainable design

The hemp comes from a minimally psychoactive strain of cannabis sativa, grown in England and processed using environmentally conscious methods such as dew retting, which involves allowing dew and rain to break down the plant so its fibres can be extracted.

The crop itself is fast-growing and highly carbon-sequestering – it captures atmospheric carbon twice as effectively as forests, according to recent research by the Centre for Natural Material Innovation at Cambridge.

Hemp fabric by CamiraThe fabric is available in 21 rich, muted colours

According to Camira, Hemp has grown into one of its "most iconic and loved" fabrics, and one whose merits have been proven as sustainability issues have come to the fore over the last decade.

"One of our proudest achievements, [Hemp] is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics on the market, providing incredible environmental benefits, and is also beautiful in its aesthetics," said Camira senior innovator Jodie Padgett.

Silent Room acoustic pod by Narbutas

Dezeen Showroom: workplace furniture brand Narbutas has added new customisation options to its Silent Room acoustic pods, offering a glass back wall for a transparent and light-filled office environment.

Narbutas' Silent Room acoustic pods create "a room within a room" in open workspaces, giving employees a private space to make calls, hold small meetings or focus on complex tasks.

Silent Room acoustic pod by NarbutasA new customisation option for Narbutas' Silent Room pods allows for transparent glass walls on both sides

The new version of the pod has a transparent glass back-wall insert instead of the classic upholstered exterior back panel, which is a good option for settings where it would be undesirable to block light.

Narbutas suggests this option for the middle of open-plan workplaces or for areas that are close to windows or glass partitions.

As with all Silent Room variations, the pod comfortably fits up to four people and is equipped with USB type A and C connectors for charging devices.

It features low-noise fans that maintain good air quality and LED lamps that Narbutas says create a "warm and homely" atmosphere within, all kept at an optimal setting by smart controls.

Arholma outdoor collection by Alexander Lervik for SkargaardenThe Arholma collection is designed to be both minimalistic and distinctive

Lervik first developed the design with a cafe chair, launched in 2021, for which he aimed to be as minimalistic as possible while creating something with a distinctive character.

"I found an identity in the form that I later infused throughout the whole collection so that it is clear that the pieces belong together," said Alexander Lervik.
