The head of the enlistment office of the Ukrainian-controlled #Donetsk and formerly Zaporizhzhia region was detained for allegedly "illegal payments to his subordinates and helping criminals avoid justice."

As reported by The #KyivIndependent, the accused officer's subordinates were sent to a brigade close to the front line, but they did not perform any tasks nor were they assigned to a combat unit. Despite that, the enlistment office gave them a total allowance of more than $26,600 for combat deployment.

One of the subordinates also received up to $19,000 for allegedly being unable to work due to battlefield deployment, investigators said.

This comes after the Ukrainian authorities launched an inspection of military enlistment offices across the country, following an investigation that revealed that Yevhen Borysov, the former head of the #Odessa Oblast military enlistment office, had acquired assets, including a villa and luxury cars, worth 4.5 million dollars in #Spain.

kyiv recently detained the head of the Rivne Oblast enlistment office and one of his subordinates for physically abusing soldiers and possession of illegal narcotic substances.

Another military enlistment officer in #Zakarpattia Oblast is under investigation for forcing soldiers to build his private house and acquire Russian state symbols.
