NYT: Murder of Russian pilot in Spain bears similarities to earlier Moscow-linked killings

The pilot was shot six times in a parking garage in the city of #Villajoyosa on Feb. 13, according to the NYT. At the crime scene, law enforcement officers found shell casings from 9 mm #Makarov rounds, a weapon widely used in former Soviet countries, the newspaper reported.

Two men waited for Kuzminov in a car under the apartment building for several hours and ran over his body after shooting him, police officials said. They called the killers "clearly professionals," who quickly disappeared. The car was reportedly found burned miles away from the attack site.

Castro de Ulaca is a stunning mountain-top megalithic complex that looks like it is located in the highlands of Peru. But it is not! It is located in near Villaviciosa, central Spain and dates back at least 2700 years and is surrounded by a massive defensive wall. The famous ‘sacrificial altar’ made of granite has niches and steps, plus what looks like a section of a polygonal wall, which form part of the same rock-cut hypogeum sanctuary. Further up the hill is what is called the ‘ritual sauna’, another rock-cut space with a porthole stone and other features. We also find balanced rocks, cup-marks and nubs like we find in Peru. Numerous Verracos (bull or boar) statues were found here and now located in local town squares and museums. Castro de Ulaca is said to have been the ancient capital of the Vettones (a Celtic Tribe) but has not been properly excavated to date. Includes exclusive aerial footage.

The stunning #fireball in this video was recorded over #Spain on 2024 February 18, at 23:08 local time (equivalent to 22:08 universal time). It was almost as bright as the full Moon. The fireball was observed by a wide number of casual eyewitnesses, who reported it on social networks.

The fireball overflew the province of A Coruña (region of Galicia, northwest of Spain). It began at an altitude of about 89 km over the locality of Teixeiro (province of A Coruña), moved northwest, and ended at a height of around 25 km over A Torre de San Bartolomeu (province of A Coruña).

The Irish Times reports that #Spain and #Ireland sent a joint letter to the #EU seeking an urgent review of whether #Israel is complying with human rights obligations under its trade agreement with the European Union.

The letter also asks that the Commission propose “appropriate measures” that could be taken if Israel is found to be in breach of the obligations in the EU/Israel Association Agreement.

The Spanish Foreign Minister declared on Tuesday that #Spain has suspended all arms exports to #Israel since the start of the Israeli war on #Gaza on October 7.
Albares has also reiterated that Madrid calls for a permanent and immediate ceasefire in Gaza, pointing out that over 27,000 Palestinians have already been killed by Israel during the ongoing war.

The Spanish Foreign Minister has added that his country wants to prevent an escalation of violence in the region.
