Lastly, there was a #museum in the park all about #rural life during the 19th century, including aspects of #agriculture but also other things such as how people entertained themselves.

Back to #plants again.

There are #trees from many parts of the world too. Some are rather oddly shaped and it seems that this one is somehow S-shaped.

This could be a redwood. It was certainly one of the tallest at the park.

In the neighbouring college, an avenue was lined with many #MonkeyPuzzleTrees.

Onto #Fauna, there were many #birds attracted to the #pond.

Here are a pair of nesting #Swans. They are obviously VIBs as they get to have their nest roped off from the #Hoipolloi.

This #duck has a brood of ten #ducklings. At one point, it threatened to attack some of the gulls also seen here when they got close to her kids.

In the #desert section there were several #cactuses of various shapes and sizes.

This one was spreading in all directions.

This one was keeping itself to itself.

And this one was somewhere in between.

The #BumbleBees and other #insects seem to be making most of the dry weather and the abundance of #flowers.

We had a light lunch and the view looking from the patio was neat and well ordered.

There are some exotic #plants such as this #orchid.

This plant from an arid climate has a beautiful symmetry. It also seems to be weeping.

There were some strong colours on display.

Today's a holiday in the #UK (Bank Holiday), an extra weekday off for Easter. My wife wanted to go on a slightly longer #bike trip and also somewhere new. So I chose #BictonPark. The total trip was just over a Marathon distance (it was 42.8 km) and mostly over some rural roads without a huge volume of traffic. The destination is quite nice though perhaps a bit too manicured. I'll post a few interesting #photographs.

There are several #GlassHouses dating back to the 19th century in which are kept plants from various climates. It reminded me of #KewGardens in London but on a smaller scale.

In this one, the plants are of tropical origin.
