I've used #linux to keep older computers going longer after MS/Apple stop support. The browser not the OS is what forces retirement, specifically heavy sites like Facebook. It's not even sites that necessarily look heavy but because of the frameworks they use they become sluggish and use hundreds of MB of RAM. Even YouTube streaming videos can be lighter than many of these sites. Lightening websites would help make computers last longer, reduce energy needs, etc. But if you are looking to extend the life of your computer I do recommend Linux especially either Linux Mint or ElementaryOS #EarthDay https://opensource.com/article/21/4/linux-free-geek
