The second batch gingerbread this year, the first to stay here. (The first batch went to my mom.) I should also stock up almonds, walnuts, almond powder etc, it's not that long now...

Since this Wednesday, despite being in the middle of mid-term exams, is the last opportunity for me to bake with students this year, I made gingerbread with them today.
Yes, the evidence points at too much time on their hands. Originally only one student had registered for this, so I thought 2kg of dough should do it. I had thought about four, but that was half of what I did on a Saturday. When I checked my list on Tuesday, there were suddenly four names on it and on Wednesday morning there were eight - on a list with space for six names. (Our department kitchen is not that big.)
Naturally, many photos were taken. (including selfies next to the copyprinter)
In the end, my worries turned out to be totally baseless, even though the eight students had turned into ten meanwhile. 2kg of dough were well enough for everyone plus a big share for the department office. No, it's not too early, you can keep these easily for two years or more, if you put them into an airtight container. But I doubt that any of those cookies in the photos will survive until 12/24, most should be gone before December.
