In the new situation, hacking, targeted interception and data access operations get an automatic extension beyond the actual target of the warrant. If a warrant is requested to intercept the communications of a specific hacking organization, the warrant now also extends to victims of this hacking group. Or, more concretely, if your computer gets hacked by group X and there was a warrant to intercept the traffic of group X, the Dutch services now gain automatic approval to also intercept your communications or hack you.

Just out of curiosity I decided to check the figures of the latest #covid cases in the #Netherlands. To my surprise, the daily measurement of cases has temporarily stopped, but it says on the official website it will be resumed in a couple of days. There was still some data though, and what surprised me the most, is that the official government site reports an increase of 59% in people being hospitalized due to covid from the last week of 2022 to the first week of 2023. 59% increase!!! That is a lot. Considering overload of hospitals was the main cause of previous lockdowns, I wonder if we could be facing the possibility of another #lockdown in the future...

I love the #Netherlands , but around new year I really wish I lived somewhere else. I come from a country where fireworks are centralized. Everyone comes together at a few designated places and professionals give amazing fireworks shows. Here, it seems like a war zone for 2 months. I just don't get why people like to literally burn their money or, even worse, turn it into sound bombs.

What's the most disappointing is the lack of empathy. Empathy for small children, for pets, for the elderly, for people that are escaping war zone, for the birds, for the environment... I mean, what goes through the head of people who throw their own fireworks. I just don't get it...

NL-Regierung beeinflusste Corona-Experten

Wenn der Schwanz mit dem Hund wedelt

In der Corona-Krise wurde uns immer erzählt, dass wissenschaftliche Experten die Regierung beraten und diese dann deren Empfehlungen umzusetzen versucht. Wie Journalisten jetzt herausfanden, war es in den Niederlanden oft genau andersherum.

Dank des niederländischen Informationsfreiheitsgesetzes (Wet openbaarheid van bestuur) konnten Journalisten jetzt einsehen, wie die Empfehlungen der Experten im Outbreak Management Team (OMT) gefunden wurden und welche Entscheidungen dann im Endergebnis herauskamen.

Die Experten waren die geballte wissenschaftliche Kompetenz und sie sollten ein großes Maß an Unabhängigkeit bei ihrer Arbeit haben. Nun bringen aber investigative Journalisten der öffentlich-rechtlichen Nachrichtensendung Nieuwsuur mehr und mehr Informationen ans Tageslicht, die die Unabhängigkeit des OMT in Frage stellen – oder jedenfalls der Endfassungen seiner Berichte, wie Telepolis berichtet.

Der niederländische Gesundheitsminister Kuipers versuchte die Recherche abzuwiegeln: ... man müsse dafür hunderttausende Dokumente durcharbeiten – und das sei schlicht nicht möglich. Nun sind aber doch 414 Seiten davon öffentlich einsehbar.

Auch wenn die Dokumente keine direkten Befehle aus den Ministerien aufzeigen, so gibt es mehrer Beispiele, wo die Empfehlungen der Experten im weiteren Verlauf verändert wurden - und die verschiedenen Beispiele zeigen sowohl in verharmlosende als auch in einschränkendere Maßnahmen, je nach der augenblicklich gewünschten Politik.

In der Kritik steht in den Niederlanden in diesem Zusammenhang insbesondere die Behinderung der Presse, die erst alle Register ziehen musste, um an die Informationen zu kommen.
