Co Down woman ‘ecstatic’ to be crowned top in UK Comic Con with Totoro costume

A Co Down woman has been crowned the top cosplayer in the UK with her seven-foot-tall Totoro costume — which she and her husband made entirely from scratch — inspired by the title character in the 1988 Studio Ghibli animation My Neighbour Totoro.

This is the biggest cat bus I've seen outside the #Ghibli museum near Tokyo. This one is currently on display in a department store in #Kaohsiung, together with other merchandise. And of course #Totoro is waiting at the bus stop...

About six years ago I tried to make Totoro-shaped mantou (steamed buns) as a present. It didn't work out very well, probably in part because I made them rather small, much smaller than the creations of the mantou lady on our fish market.

Maybe I should give it another try, bigger this time...
