Severance, on Apple TV+, is one of the cleverest and most original pieces of science fiction I've ever seen. And, thankfully, not an alien or space ship in sight.

"As a result, not much about Foundation sticks, either emotionally or narratively. There are cause-and-effect relationships between one event and another, but they’re stretched across long-attenuated frames, spun out over distances that are short enough to roughly remember there was a relationship there, but too long for that relationship to retain any urgency or heft. There are a few instances where big twists or reunions do have a sense of exciting development, but their infrequency only makes it clear how little you care about the other stuff. Salvor Hardin has a love interest, for instance, who Foundation insists matters as a character, and who returns more than once to give Hardin some emotional oomph. Never once does he make the slightest dent in the story’s larger field of gravity. I watched all ten episodes of the season, and if you were to put that character in front of me in a lineup, there is absolutely no way I could identify him with any certainty."

Foundation on Apple TV....man that is moving slow...I think I may be already done with it's 20 seasons or whatever they have planned...I suspect many others are too.

Apple’s Foundation starts out big, lavish, and a little boring
I've just freshly finished reading the entire Foundation series in anticipation of this series, and so far I'm pretty disappointed with the first episode. As it started, I was wondering if it was the same book...
In the books Gaal Dornick, apart from being a man, is already freshly qualified as a full Doctor. The actress here looks like she is only in her teens. The very first scene about the Vault with the kids trying to approach, I don't recall in any of the books. I seem to recall the whole lead up to the meeting of Dr Seldon very differently, with Gaal first visiting the top of the metal dome. The dome and the weather management does not seem to have featured yet.
So yes it appears so far to be a loose adaptation, and I'll have to see if I get to love it... But I can really recommend reading the books which obviously are able to give a lot more background detail, and to me, seem to have more to the point dialogue and even a faster pace...

A slow start for the sci-fi epic.
