I started golfing when I was in my 30s. I really got into it taking lessons and even did a camp. I got my handicap under 100, won neat tournament prizes, and thought it would be an activity Fred and I would do until we lost the ability to swing a club. Alas it was now to be because – men. We golfed together from the whites but men joining us would ask why I wasn’t golfing from the “Ladies Tee" or not let us play through as a two-some. By the time of my accident, it was really easy to give up.

I was pulling on my lovely 2% Lyra jeans when I realized one thing I don’t miss is the 100% cotton jeans that were the only choice when growing up. The fit is so much more important when there’s no give any my body didn’t (and still doesn’t) fit jeans well!

It's funny how people can become rude trying to enforce their ideas of good manners. I think I'm better at saying thank you than please but I'm not sure.

Good evening/afternoon/morning everyone and welcome to today's #checkin. Time flies! It's my last day as #checkin mod, and next up is @su ann lim. Today was a cold day again, with around 3C in the morning. Brr! But otherwise, spring is in full bloom here. I love it when it blooms. The beautiful magnolias and the cherry trees!
Fortunately, I have no allergies. I know a couple of people who have hay fever or are allergic to some tree pollen. Fortunately, I am also not allergic to cat or dog hair!

My package has not yet turned up. On Sunday, I put a message at the door asking who accepted it... But so far, nobody turned up :(
Well, let's just wait one or two days. Other than that, today is School Bus Drivers Day and this makes a good question. Fortunately, I can walk to work. To school I took the bike and later on bike + bus and, when I was old enough, car in the final year(s).

Good evening/afternoon/morning everyone and welcome to today's #checkin. It's Monday again and after a hot weekend with temps up to 20C we are now back to lower digits. Rain and they said in higher areas even snow is possible. Cold wind. Brrr!
So, now having a traditional German dinner - Bread. A bit unusual is that I also eat jam/marmalade for dinner. Most would eat cheese or sausage or other non-sweet stuff. It's always fun to see how people from other cultures react on some "normal" things which seem totally strange to them. Sometimes it's eye-opening. Have been watching a couple of videos.

Good morning/evening/afternoon and welcome to today's #checkin. Today is still warm but cloudy weather. And some drops of rain. Today I finally found time and joy to bake my bread again. Otherwise, I am still on the hunt for a missing package that was delivered and accepted by someone else here. It's usually not a problem here, just 6 apartments, and it's common sense to accept the packages for neighbors as well and put them on the stairs. But not this time. Spoke already with two neighbors and one is also missing/searching for a package... Well, I just put a note at the door calling out to the person who accepted it to just put it in front of y apartment door. Let's see if it turns up...

What are your experiences with deliveries? Package not arrived or damaged? Or maybe stolen ? Unusual place where the delivery person put it, e.g. under the barbecue on the terrace?

Good morning/afternoon/evening and welcome to today's #checkin. It's a beautiful sunny day with over 20C here. Just did a little walk outside. Just a bit windy. Today I will relax and probably be listening to music. That fits perfectly with Record Store Day today with the goal, to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". Even vinyl and cassettes are "modern" again. More and more bands are also releasing music on those. I still like to buy CDs but I also listen on youtube a lot.
And I support independent artists!

Well hello! It’s my last day today and next up is @David "Kahomono" Frier (he/his) #blm #saygay 💉💉🇺🇦! But first –

I was watching a video the other day on what this person no longer buys and it got me thinking as I was looking at my warm(er)-weather clothes and deciding on donations. I tend to keep clothes I don’t wear much longer than I want to THEN I don’t know what I have other than a jumble of clothes. So I went through my drawers and got rid of anything I was on the fence about but didn’t have pockets. For tops, I got rid of “flappy” sleeveless items that wrinkle. Pants that fit meh, gone. Shoes I don’t wear, donated. I want to at least like everything I have.

How about you? Is there something you’ve just lost patience with and have banned from your life…for now?

Today let's talk about libraries. I have belonged to a library since I was in kindergarten and as an adult has had a library card for every town/city I've lived in. I was a student helper in elementary school and hung out in the library a lot through high school; I even spent 6 months doing library research at U of Calgary. One of my earliest memories is walking to the library with my mom when we lived in Vancouver.

It’s not surprising traveling to a warm locale from winter is an adjustment but is there anything more subtle that catches up with you? For me, it's how much hotter water boils at sea level. We're at 650+ metres so water's boiling temperature is noticeably cooler. Also burning the roof of your mouth takes a long time to heal, just in case you didn't know.

Hi, how are ya?

AI has been in the news a lot lately so we were talking about consciousness during our drive to the airport. I’ve thought perhaps it’s related to sensing time passing and understanding time can pass without being aware – such as when under anesthetic. This really came to the fore as we did the long-haul travel thing across time zones. Intermittent sleep, and random-seeming meals distorted time.

So let's talk about impressions of what consciousness is, or about AI or ...

Hello fellow humans.

Most of us have driven or been front-seat passengers. I find, as a driver, I do not look at the instrument panel often. I can tell my speed, or use cruise control, and expect any error messages to catch my attention at a glance down. Our Corvette had heads-up display and I found it distracting so I found this ‘innovation’ horrifying. Am I alone in feeling a huge HUD dash is not a good thing?
