Hmm… Caturday reminds me that it’s probably time to empty the old litter from the cat box.
It's less of a frequent chore now that Bubbles is a porch cat. He’s not very good at being one. He doesn’t run around with the other porch cats, just hangs out on the railing looking unhappy. But then he never adjusted to being a house cat either. In spite of all our efforts and inducements, he steadfastly refused to become our pet, with “pet” being the operative word. You can just tell that he’s miserable out there, but what can you do? I try to coax him in from time to time, even tempt him with our cats' favorite treats, but he’s not having it. So sad. I really liked that cat.
Fair Warning, Bicycle Nerd stuff:
I’ve been struggling with my recent bike project. I stripped down the frame, cleaned and polished it. Had trouble with the bottom bracket, and though I’ve cleaned them up, it looks like the threads may need chasing at the local bike shop. The seat post was stuck, and took some effort to get out. It took tying the frame to a post with rope and using a cheap hand ratchet winch from Harbor Freight tied to another post to pull it out. The quill stem was also stuck, but not nearly as badly as the seat post. I'm replacing it with a threadless adapter for more stem length + angle, and handlebar options.
The next indicated step will be cold setting the rear spacing +5mm to accept the wider 8-speed hub and hope the dropouts don’t go out of parallel too much for safety and wear. Maybe I should have the bike shop check them. Maybe even have them do the cold setting when I take the frame in for chasing the bottom bracket threads. ($$$)
So what’s on queue for me today?
Gotta get some yard work done, and the week’s laundry. Maybe I’ll finish that book that’s due on Monday and futz with the project bike some more. I’ve got all weekend (I hope.)
Oh yeah, and empty the cat box!
