Scanner - Chimaera

  • Chimaera is the opening track from my new album, Alchemeia, released on 19 January 2024. The album was created as an affectionate tribute to the early 1960s and 1970s library music culture, applying relatively crude techniques of electronic composition, using a mix of hardware and software. No digital effects were applied to any of the recordings. The music is inspired by such composers as Tod Dockstader, Delia Derbyshire, Bernard Estardy, Ron Geesin, and many more....

A Limb is a kind of artistic Frankenstein, exhuming all sorts of music corpses from their graves, stitching an ambient body with funk legs, punk feet, experimental arms, jazz hands, a drone head, inserting a big ethnic music heart and krautrock lungs... then bathing the whole "body" into a dub effects bath, until an electro thunderbolt strikes it and... omg... it's... alive! Hmm.. sometimes science goes too far, but it's too late to back-pedal...

Google Photos app starting to tag the back of heads, and adding a manual Cinematic Photo feature

Seems Google is intending to keep Google Photos, as they have been adding quite a few new features lately.

One is a prompt that has started to pop up for somewhere the back of a head is only visible, and some are seeing a good 80+ percent success rate in recognition.

I’m still only seeing the random automatic cinematic photos, but supposedly there is a manual option rolling out for some. The cinematic effect does really make a photo pop out (the feature uses machine-learning smarts to add simulated depth and motion to static photos, ideally giving them a cinematic feeling).
