Curve Crown by Front for Zero Lighting

Dezeen Showroom: for Zero Lighting Swedish design duo Front has created the Curve Crown pendant, which borrows features from classic library lamps.

The Curve Crown was originally designed for the 2018 renovation of Sweden's National Museum and its library, which led Front to look to traditional library lighting for reference.

The designers have evolved the design into a large pendant, which Zero Lighting describes as looking like a rhythmic circle dance with arms interlinked.

Three or more fixtures are grouped together and their arms intertwined to make a single Curve Crown chandelier.

The painted metal designs are available in a choice of four colours, including green, white, ivory or pigeon blue, as well as other hues on request.

Bauhaus chairs by Erich Dieckmann for TYP

Baby blue D1 chair by Erich Dieckmann for TYP with wicker seat

**Dezeen Showroom: **Austrian brand TYP has reissued a trio of chairs by seminal Bauhaus furniture designer Erich Dieckmann and adapted them for modern use.

The Dieckmann by TYP collection is centred on D1, a wooden chair with a cubic frame and curved backrest designed to fit into a variety of different interiors.

Wooden D1+ chair with wicker seat by TYPTYP has reissued the D1 (top image) and D1+ chair (above) by Erich Dieckmann

It also includes two variations on this design – a version with armrests called D1+ and one with slanted hind legs and a simplified backrest called D2.

Originally created by Dieckmann around 1930, the seating designs were early examples of Typenmöbel, meaning furniture optimised for standardised mass production.

Green dyed D2 chair by Erich DieckmannThe D2 chair has slanted hind legs and a simplified backrest

All their components were carefully measured and fabricated to fit the human body, in a bid to guarantee comfort despite their wooden frames.

TYP has brought the Bauhaus chairs up to date by reengineering their joints and adapting their sizes for modern users, all while preserving their original proportions.

"Each piece is simple yet functional, stringently geometric yet adaptable to the human posture," said TYP. "What applies to all is easy to produce and fairly priced products that don’t compromise quality."

Black D1+ chair by TYPThe chairs can be finished in three different kinds of wood and six different colours

The chairs are available in hardwearing Robinia wood for use outdoors and in oak or ash wood for interior purposes.

The ash can also be dyed in six different colours including black, white, baby blue and olive green. The wooden seats can be left plain, swapped out for wickerwork or upholstered in a range of textiles and leathers.

Onsen collection by Francesco Meda and David Quincoces for Gandiablasco

Dezeen Showroom: designers Francesco Meda and David Quincoces have expanded their Onsen collection for Gandia Blasco, adding more outdoor furniture styles that reference the materiality of tanned leather.

The Onsen collection of lounge chairs, sofas and coffee tables is made with tubular steel, outdoor fabrics, and weather-resistant vinyl straps, which appear like natural leather.

Onsen collection by Francesco Meda and David Quincoces for GandiablascoThe Onsen collection references the elegant beauty of artisanal leather

These contrasting materials are combined into compositions that are meant to exude calm and balance, in a manner recalling Japanese architecture and design.

At the same time, they are designed to be robust, with the matt stainless steel offering high resistance and durability, and the waterproof upholstery being removable for cleaning.

Twist pendant light by Shakúff

Twist pendant light by Shakúff

Dezeen Showroom: handmade using a complex glass-blowing technique, the Twist pendant by Shakúff brings a decorative spin to a classic style of lighting.

The Twist pendant features a hexagonal tube of glass with a rippled appearance. The light is created by artisans who manoeuvre it over a hot flame, twisting it sharply three times in one direction then three times in the other.

Twist pendant light by ShakúffThe Twist pendant is handmade over a flame using precise spinning movements

Because the technique requires a great degree of control and sensitivity, the artisans cannot use gloves while they work, and instead use metal tools to help them manipulate the glass safely. Shakúff likens the process to a dance.

"Like any dance, the creation of a Twist requires a commitment to technique," said Shakúff. "Also like in dance, intuition is important and the feel of the craft are important here."

Twist pendant light by ShakúffThe pendants are available in arrangements of any number

The finished pendants, available in arrangements of any desired number, are said to make light reflect in swirls across the room.

Twist comes in clear or frosted glass, and there is the option to combine the two within a single arrangement.

Six Sprinkle pendants by Note Design Studio for Zero Lighting in different colours on a grey backdrop

*Dezeen Showroom: *Note Design Studio has called its latest design for Zero Lighting Sprinkle, in reference to the pendant lamp's vibrant colour palette and thin cylindrical shape, which are reminiscent of the tiny sugary beads used to decorate cakes.

Much like its namesake, the Sprinkle light comes in a range of rainbow hues including blue, red and yellow alongside more neutral tones of brown, black and oyster white.

Close-up of a red pendant lamp with rings around its light sourceThe Sprinkle light is available in six colours

Its steel and aluminium body are made up of a thin tube as well as five stacked rings, which form a cage around its central LED light source.

This creates not just visual interest but also distributes the light and creates an interesting play of shadows and transparencies.

Each of Sprinkle's six coloursways comes with a matching fabric cord. On request, the lamp can also be finished in bespoke shades to match specific interiors.

Tables and chairs from Koster outdoor collection by Studio Norrlandet for Skargaarden on a patio

Dezeen Showroom: Studio Norrlandet has designed Skargaarden's Koster collection of outdoor chairs and tables to withstand even the most extreme weather conditions.

With Koster, Studio Norrlandet wanted to produce a set of outdoor furniture that would pass the most stringent load and durability tests – while looking like something that founders Jari and Anna Visuri would want in their own garden.

Square wooden dining table with matching chairs on a patioThe Koster collection is designed to withstand extreme weather

Among other things, the furniture was tested to see if it could withstand high winds on a skyscraper roof without blowing away.

"We were looking for a comfy, uncomplicated, beautiful and simple design," said Jari Visuri, who is also founder and CEO of Skargaarden. "Chairs that are easy to sit in, even when you have a lot of chairs close together around the table."
