Die Kamera vom #Fairphone 4 ist echt bescheiden... Und ich glaube zum Teil liegt das ab der App, denn vor dem auslösen auf dem Bildschirm sieht es viel besser aus. Leider kann man in der Kameraapp keine Screenshots machen.

Wahrscheinlich muss man bei einem Fairphone einfach immer eine Akkupack mitnehmen wenn man mehr als 6h unterwegs ist, weil länger als 8h hält der Akku bei mir wohl kaum.
Und die Apps mit dem höchsten Bedarf habe ich schon angepasst.
Das #Fairphone 4, mit deren #Android erlaubt es nur, #Fingerabdruck für alles, inkl. entsperren des Gerätes, zu aktivieren, oder?
Bei anderen Android Handys konnte ich das entsperren immer ausschalten und Fingerabdruck nur für Entsperrung von Apps benutzen. Damit wäre Fingerabdruck aus meiner Sicht doch ein sehr hohes Sicherheitsrisiko.
Deaktivierung von Fingerabdruck geht auch nur indem ich die Fingerabdrücke alle rauslösche, richtig?
Mein #Fairphone 4 friert immer wieder ein und startet neu, wenn ich 5G bei meiner (Telekom) Simakarte akriviere.
Ich bin nicht sicher ob es nur bei der Simkarte so ist, aber bei der physischen Sinkarte der Telekom ist es so.
Wenn ich einstelle, das nur 2G, 3G und 4G benutzt werden soll, dann passiert es nicht.
So mal eine kurze Erfahrung zum Fairphone 4, was ich jetzt seit 2 Monaten neben meinem iPhone 14 nutze
Am Anfang habe ich mich schwergetan, den die Benutzung ist, doch mit einem iPhone nicht zu vergleichen, aber ich nutze mittlerweile mehrheitlich das Fairphone mit e/OS und je häufiger ich es nutze, desto weniger vermisse ich das iPhone.
Was mich am Anfang sehr gestört hat, waren die Bilder, die ich mit dem Fairphone aufgenommen habe, sie konnten am Anfang nicht mit denen des iPhone mithalten. Es lag aber nicht wirklich am Fairphone, sondern eher an mir und an ein paar Einstellungen.
Ich nutze mittlerweile auch die Murena Cloud, die im gesamten ein Super zusammen Spiel zwischen Linux und Fairphone bietet, was eine gute Alternative zum Apple Universum darstellt. Und es laufen für mich alle wichtigen Apps auf dem Fairphone.

Fairphone 5 Camera test: Benchmarks and Comparisons with Pixel 7a and Xiaomi 12T Pro
Fairphone’s devices are designed with longevity, reduction of e-waste, fairer sourcing of materials and the welfare of workers in mind. The latest model Fairphone 5 5G comes with only slightly improved camera specifications but major improvements in the software department when compared to its predecessor Fairphone 4. As a result, the Fairphone 5 5G outperformed the 4 by almost 40 points in the DXOMARK Camera tests.
The improvements were most noticeable in photo and video, where the new device performed better across most test categories, including exposure, color, texture, noise, artifacts, and video stabilization. Thanks to good detail and well-controlled image noise, the camera did well in bright light conditions, making it a good option for landscape photography and similar photographic genres. In addition, photos and videos were generally exposed nicely. Colors could be slightly desaturated, however, and the video stabilization will struggle to satisfy more demanding videographers. In their tests, stabilization was often inaccurate, with residual motion and sharpness differences between frames visible in the recorded footage. Their testers also found dynamic range to be limited in some high-contrast video scenes.
The Fairphone is not a high-end phone, so no-one is expecting it to compete with other high-end phones, but for many, the camera is a very important phone component. Although the Fairphone 5 has bumped up the camera specs considerably from the v4, it is just good to know what to actually expect before buying this phone. This is why I find the DXOMARK camera tests especially interesting.
The linked article not only gives the benchmark figures, but also shows some still images and video, that can be easily compared with flagship phones.
I would really be interested to know if the Fairphone 5 would be able to accept future camera module upgrades eg. to a 100MP camera for example. That would be a real first for any smartphone!

Fairphone 5 sets a new standard with 8-10 years of Android support and a 5-year warranty
Fairphone is not trying to compete on bleeding edge specifications. It can be more likened to a mid-range phone, with long support, ethically sourced components, and easily repairable (screwed not glued) modules. For example, you could swap out the main 50MP camera for $75.50 (if that can be upgraded say after a few years, that would be really great!).
It has all the essentials though like Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, sub-6 GHz 5G support, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, dual 50-megapixel cameras, a 90Hz OLED display, a side fingerprint reader, and a normal-sounding modem, DSP, ISP, and AI engine.
The IP55 rating for dust and water resistance does not worry me too much, as I’ve never had need of more than this in over two decades of carrying mobile phones. I have, though, had major pains trying to replace the glued in battery of my Nexus 6P phone. I do anyway fully insure my phone against all-risks.
What is really interesting though, and we’ve heard this before from Fairphone, is that modern consumer phone OS support is often limited by Qualcomm (or other SoC vendor), as Qualcomm must continually adapt Android updates to work with their chips. Fairphone has got partly around this limitation by employing an industrial grade Qualcomm chip instead of the usual consumer version, which has shorter support by Qualcomm.
Although the camera is not going to be as good as my Galaxy S23 Ultra, I’d be quite interested to see if my banking apps would work with this phone. The reason is my banking apps (well one of them at least) has very stringent security requirements which I remember excluded the use of my rooted Pixel 2 XL phone (even the Magisk cloaking could not hide the root status from the banking app). I think the bank also mandates the use of its official app from the Google Play Store too (and this is used for photo verification as well as website 2FA logins for me). The Fairphone does come with its own Fairphone OS, but it does seem you can get that with, or without, the Google Apps. If you can get by without the Google Apps, then this won’t be any problem, but if you have to have the official app from the app store then you may want to be sure this will all work fine.

No one in the Android ecosystem can hold a candle to Apple’s software support timeline for the iPhone, but there is one company that comes the closest: Fairphone. Following in the footsteps of the Fairphone 2, the Fairphone 3 is also getting an Android-industry-best seven years of OS support. Fairphone continues to run circles around giant tech companies that have a lot more resources than it does, and it’s doing this even in the face of component vendors like Qualcomm dropping support for the phone’s core components.
You’d hope that others follow suit, but don’t hold your breath. Samsung is probably closest, but not for their whole range I think. That said, Fairphone is not very quick with their updates. Still 7 years is nearly double the time that most Android OEMs give so you can certainly get your money’s worth out of these devices.
