Everyone wants to be bigger. The goat wants to be a sheep. The ram wants to be a bull. The bull wants to be an elephant.
And the little frog also wanted to be bigger. But how, how do you to do it? Pull himself up by his foot or his ear? - It doesn't work. Аnd

So he went out into a big field, sat on a small hillock and waited for the sun to set.
And when the sun was setting down, a shadow began to grow from the frog. At first it was like a goat; then like a sheep; then like a bull; and then like a big, big elephant.
Then the frog got excited and cried out:
- I am a big elephant!
Only the big elephant was very offended.
- And you are not an elephant," he said to the frog. - It's your shadow is the big elephant. And you, you're just a big weirdo at sunset.

А маленький лягушонок тоже хотел стать больше. Но как, как это сделать? Потянуть себя за лапку? — не получается. За ушко — тоже. А хвостика нет…
И тогда он вышел в большое поле, сел на маленький бугорок и стал ждать, когда будет заходить солнце.
А когда солнце покатилось к закату, от лягушонка начала расти тень. Вначале она была, как козлик; потом — как баран; потом — как бык; а потом — как большой-большой слон.
Тут лягушонок обрадовался и закричал:
— А я большой слон!
Только большой слон очень обиделся.
— И никакой ты не слон, — сказал он лягушонку. — Это твоя тень — большой слон. А ты, ты просто так — большой чудак на закате дня.

A film by the pioneering Spanish film director and cinematographer Segundo Chomón. With his innovative use of early splice-based tricks and a penchant for optical illusions he is often compared to the slightly earlier Georges Méliès, and indeed has been dubbed "The Spanish Méliès" by some. Though the similarities are clear, Chomón departs from Méliès in his variety of subjects and his use of animation, an art form he played a key role in developing. In this surreal short a sprightly frog circles various come-to-life fountain tableaux, as well as a giant version of itself, an enormous head being drenched by water, and some multicoloured fire thrown in for good measure.

Do you know the story of the frogs and the king?
It goes back to a fable by Aesop and goes something like this:

*In earlier times, the frogs lived a carefree life in the ponds and pools. But their boredom led them to approach the god Jupiter with loud cries and ask for a king.
When Jupiter laughed at their request, they intensified their cries even more. The benevolent Jupiter took pity on the naive frogs and threw a thick old stick into the pond, causing a loud splash that frightened the frogs and drove them to flee.
After the frog community had regrouped, one of them stuck his head out over the water to recognize the new king and called the others over to look at him. They approached, some timidly, and greeted their ruler. But when they realized that the new king was lifeless and made only of wood, they jumped on him and trampled him underfoot, again asking the god to give them a “real” king.
Jupiter then granted them the stork, which killed them one by one. In despair, they cried out in tears: “O god Jupiter, help us or we will die.” Jupiter replied: “Your inappropriate and impulsive pleading has brought you this king, whom you must now endure, since you rejected the good and gentle one.*
btw. I think this fable is somehow pretty topical - don't you agree?
