Local legend has it that she'll turn her head to watch you pass, but whatever you do, don't catch her eye, or she'll turn you to stone. People leave silver coins and small keepsakes at her feet, so who knows what other powers she has for those who believe in her.

It's for an Odell Night Latch Key, of the type shown on the right. Patented in 1792, they came in a wide variety of different shapes and you put them through the cross bar of the T and then lifted them up. They'd only open the latch if their shape fitted the inverse shape of the mechanism in the lock itself, which sat on the other side of the door.

There's been a pub with this name on this site since 1760. In the 1860s, it was run by Andrew Stout who also made his own aerated water and ginger beer. He sold this side business to A.G. Barr, the makers of Iru-Bru, Scotland's other national drink, in 1887.

This is Spiral of Life by Andy Scott up against the autumnal trees at the West of Scotland Science Park on Maryhill Road in Glasgow (just!). The two seem to go rather well together.

As far as I can work out, this is an Argyll 10/12 HP Tonneau, which was made at their previous works in Bridgeton in the East End of Glasgow in 1904.

Positioned on the line of the Antonine Wall behind the Lambhill Stables, this giant head looks out from the site of a former fort across what was once the northern frontier of the Roman Empire and into the barbarian terrritory beyond.

This one is in the Hyndland area of Glasgow. For those who don't know, a wally close is the communal entrance to a tenement which is lined with tiles, and often beautifully crafted ones.
