I noticed the other day that our Lilac bushes are blooming. In October.
Did a little searching, and it's a thing.
When the plants are under stress.
We have had a fairly moderate summer and fall here in the Mid Atlantic region. Some heavy rain, but not dry and not too hot and still no frost.
Hmmm. We have been having die off's in several different types of trees. We lost a Tulip Magnolia two years ago. It just died.
This past season we lost a Dogwood. It hadn't been looking good, but it bloomed in the spring and then proceeded to wither away.
Now the Lilacs are looking kind of dead around the edges. right click and open in another tab for the full sized

With the 'explosion' of new pet owners as a result of the Covid pandemic, there has also been a dog training deficit.
Not only a deficit, but training that may have negative results for the dog and owner.
When we got our first dog 25 years ago we sought out a trainer that could help us match the intelligence of our new Australian Shepard.
The other Aussie owners suggested a local trainer who used positive training.
The trainer was very good, using the Karen Pryor click&treat methods of positive reinforcement.
It's as much training the human as it is the dog ( or other animal ).
It really worked for us, and our dog.
We have used similar techniques on our current dogs with pretty good success.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the US government handed out "PPP Loans" to many entities ( small and large businesses, churches, and organizations ).
The entities receiving the loans were supposed to keep workers paid, leases up to date, etc.
This tool from ProPublica lets you look up the loan recipients in an area, or line of business, and see the status of the loan.
Many were forgiven by the government. There was quite the feeding frenzy.
