Op 22 november werd een webinar Integrative Medicine gehouden door de ziekenhuizen Rijnstate, Isala en Maxima Medisch Centrum, onderdeel van het innovatieve netwerk mProve. Binnen mProve is aandacht voor dat de arts met de patiënt praat over preventie, welzijn, leefstijl en de behoeften van de patiënt. Er wordt gestreefd naar openheid over wat een patiënt in de complementaire zorg zoekt om zelf klachten aan te pakken waar de reguliere zorg geen antwoord op heeft. Dat is fijn voor de patiënt, maar ook voor de behandelend artsen en begeleidend verpleegkundigen. Niet alleen in de oncologie, ook in andere specialismen komt Integrative Medicine steeds meer van de grond.
Acupunctuur, veilig en effectief
Patiënten hebben behoefte aan begeleiding in hun zoektocht naar aanvullende behandelingen. Voor de zorgprofessionals in ziekenhuizen is het belangrijk om te kunnen adviseren over de combinatie van reguliere zorg en aanvullende effectieve en veilige zorg, zoals acupunctuur.

In the EU parliament, a meeting has been held bout the use of Integrative Medicine for Covid and Long Covid. Among the speakers were a neurologist/acupuncturist, an oncologist/homeopath and other medical experts.
Contrary to many people's belief, on a high political level, steps are being taken to integrate proven, effective and safe natural therapies back into mainstream medicine, after they had been excluded because they did not seem to fit into the Industrial Medicine's model.
Will this development change the practice of medicine itself? Hopefully. Many people suffer from chronic illnesses, for which traditional natural medicine has good treatment options.
