The draughts conditions in Iran reaching a catastrophic levels.

This image was released by #NASA taken at the location where it used to be #lake #Urmieh, between eastern and western Azerbaijan provinces in north western Iran.

The lake used to be the home of Asian #flamingos and many other birds who are now all gone. The lake was also home to 100a of unique species of fish and other marine lives not found anywhere else in the world.

The water level of #CaspianSea, the largest lake in the world is now 9m bellow it's lowest level recorded in history and causing trouble for fishermen and people who's life depends on the well being of that sea, not only in #Iran, but also in #Azerbaijan Republic, #Turkmenistan and even Russia.

#Stonehenge-Like #Structure Found Under #Lake #Michigan

Archaeologists found something much more fascinating than they got credit for when searching under the waters of Lake Michigan for shipwrecks: they uncovered a rock with a #prehistoric #carving of a #mastodon, as well as a collection of stones arranged in a Stonehenge-like manner.

In modern #archaeology, the use of remote sensing techniques is common: scientists regularly survey lakes and soil for hidden objects.

Archaeologists uncovered sunken boats and cars and even a Civil War-era pier at a depth of around 40 feet into Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay, using sonar techniques to search for shipwrecks, but among all these, they found this prehistoric surprise
