I worked at a research library on the campus of the University of Utah. During the time the library was getting a complete remodeling, the IT department where I worked was moved out to a building in Research Park. It was an area that was not developed. It was still mostly large fields, long roads, and many beautiful trees. There was one City bus that stopped in the area. It was about a 25 minute walk to and from the bus stop to my job.

Eine #Igeldame, welche ich #Weihnachten auf einem #Feldweg gefunden habe, hat leider den #Winter nicht überlebt.
Sie war zwar im #Winterschlaf aber so aufgequollen, dass sie sich nicht zusammenrollen konnte. Wie Sie mitten auf ein leeres Feld kommt ist mir ein Rätsel. Ich habe Donata dann neben dem #Komposter ein trockenes und warmes Lager bereitete aber Sie hat es nicht überlebt. Daher ist Sie unter der neuen Weide bestattet worden und somit heißt der Baum jetzt #Donata-Weide.

Note

Due to the warm temperature, we had yesterday and the temperature below zero we had last night. Ungroomed trails are closed as they are icy and unsafe. However, groomed trails are not recommended. Be cautious, the base is hard and icy mostly on hills. Leaves, debris and ice can be found on the trails. The ground may also be exposed in certain areas.

Rideau Canal Re-Opens for Skating

With the temperature at -13°C (8°F) and a windchill of -20C (4°F) the canal looks like it will reopen for one last day before everything melts. Only a short portion of under 2 km will open at noon and it is only rated as "poor". If this is it for this winter then it will have been open only nine days, only a small section and never rated better than "poor".

@Kathryn Barr and I don't skate on it unless it is rated "good" or "very good" as "poor" is damn dangerous for surface conditions. Even "fair" is not good enough to skate with any degree of safety.
