"Rock & Roll"

I saw and heard him perform this song live at the NY Academy of Music a few eons ago.
I was reminded of Lou Reed by this lovely artwork I've just seen (thank you Joao)

I don't even remember so much of the show as I do the years of re-listening to this specific song, with a good set of speakers or phones, so it might sound like what I experienced in the great acoustical theater (where I worked for a long time). Anyway, like some of the Jimi Hendrix riffs which sent shivers down my spine (thinking Paligap, Red House - songs by request, miss you VTE ...

This rif in the middle just took my breath away, still does after all these dazel.... But listen to the whole thing first, maybe.

An all-time rock guitar riff, beginning 4:11

  • Featuring contributions from Reed’s future bandmate, John Cale, Words & Music, May 1965 presents in their entirety the earliest-known recordings of such historic songs as “Heroin,” “I’m Waiting for the Man,” and “Pale Blue Eyes”—all of which Reed would eventually record and make indelibly influential with the Velvet Underground. Also included are several more previously-unreleased compositions that offer additional insight into Reed’s creative process and early influences.
