Archive.org, a repository of the history of the Internet, has a data breach
31 million records containing email addresses and password hashes exposed.
Archive.org, one of the only entities to attempt to preserve the entire history of the World Wide Web and much of the broader Internet, was recently compromised in a hack that revealed data on roughly 31 million users.
archive.org is not loading right now.
Of the thousands and thousands of archived hard disk drives from the 1990s that clients ask the company to work on, around one-fifth are unreadable.

Der #E-Book-Verleih des Internet Archive ist ein Verstoß gegen US-Copyright. Teilerfolge vor dem Berufungsgericht reichen nicht aus, das Urteil umzudrehen.
Während Google Books in den USA legal ist, gilt das nicht für die #E-Book-Bibliothek des #Internet #Archive. Das hat ein US-Bundesberufungsgericht am Mittwoch bestätigt. Demnach verletzen die Ausleihen des Internet Archive #US-Copyright und fallen nicht unter dessen Bestimmungen über #FairUse. Das ist ein herber Rückschlag für das Projekt. "Wir sind enttäuscht", sagt das Internet Archive, "Wir werden fortfahren, das Recht von #Bibliotheken, #Bücher zu besitzen, zu verleihen und zu erhalten, verteidigen." Immerhin enthält das Urteil eine wichtige Entscheidung zugunsten Fair Use im Allgemeinen, was für das konkrete Projekt aber zu wenig ist, um das Urteil der ersten Instanz insgesamt umzudrehen.
