Ancient Snow Gum

This is a picture of a 'Snow Gum' taken on the Bogong High Plains (near Cape West Aquaduct) quite some time ago. This tree must be very very old, given it's size and how slow snow gums grow.

The Necks are an Australian avante-garde jazz trio formed in 1987 by founding mainstays Chris Abrahams on piano and Hammond organ, Tony Buck on drums, percussion and electric guitar, and Lloyd Swanton on bass guitar and double bass. They play improvisational pieces of up to an hour in length that explore the development and demise of repeating musical figures. Their double LP studio album Unfold was named by Rolling Stone as "one of the top 20 avant albums of 2017."

PERHAPS one of the most spectacular of all Australian native flowering plants is the floral emblem of New South Wales, telopea speciosissima.
The Aboriginal name for Telopea is waratah, and it is by this name that it is most commonly known. The leaves are large and leathery, and may have irregular serrations on the edges. The new growth on the dark flowering forms often has some dark tones. [+]
