Similar going on at my house, but with drought, wildfires and tariffs in mind. That pretty much covers canned goods, paper, tea/coffee, and whatever can't grow for a few years because it needs to be re-planted first.

I am more like my mother when I am facing adversity.
She lived through Indian boarding school and the great depression.
As a result, she only felt secure when our pantry was stocked, and we had more bar soap, on the shelves, than anyone could use between now and the twelfth of never.
Today, I rearranged my closet, and gave away my collection of cardigans and shoes that were still in the boxes.
I made room for at least three years worth of good masks for my family. It feels prudent, to me, to spend savings on an item that will help us stay healthy no matter what. I also bought enough medical supplies for my husband so we can weather possible supply issues.
If we don't need my stash it will be a good thing.
I whispered thank you to my mom while we watched the sunset. We never used all the soap and maybe we won't need all the masks.
Still stormy in these parts.
Take good care, Mastodon friends.

#AsSeenWalking Sunset 13/11/24 travelers in the sky heading west. The park near my house has been undergoing a transformation for a couple of months. Paths and paved areas are being added for accessibility. It's been just grass and play fields for decades.

Legend has it that the #Sun and the Moon have always been in love...
But they could never be together, because the Moon rises at #sunset, and the Sun just at #dawn.
Thus, the sun, which is so in love with its Moon, lets itself die every night to let it live...
Then, the sky invented the #eclipse so that they could finally find each other and #love #each #other..
https://mastodonapp.uk/@davidallan/113375040362141063 davidallan@mastodonapp.uk - On the night we bid farewell to British Summer Time (clocks back an hour at 2am), headed up to the Copt Hill above Houghton-le-Spring in North East England to capture this evening's sunset.
As so often happens, a low bank of cloud to the west hid any dramatic light show, but it was still worth the effort.

A pity I was a little bit too late for this drama. If I had left school only five minutes earlier...
On this day basically the whole sky was filled with clouds, except a narrow band above the horizon. So when I was still riding my bike on my way home, I noticed that the setting sun must have reached an open area at the horizon, because the whole sky (all the clouds) was painted red and several shades of grey.
I admit I sped up a bit, but went only slightly beyond the speed limit to make it to the sea for a photo - and a lady on a scooter was even faster and overtook me. What can I say? She had the same destination: The road in front of the sea, which was full of people photographing. But sadly, only a small part of the cloud cover was still bathed in red light.
