Amy Gutmann, the US ambassador to Germany, said the drills will constitute an "impressive" show of force toward other countries in the world.

"I would be pretty surprised if any world leader was not taking note of what this shows in terms of the spirit of this alliance, which means the strength of this alliance," the US official told reporters in Berlin. "And that includes Mr. Putin," she said, referring to the Russian president.

Unter der Führung der Luftwaffe sollen Luftkriegsoperationen trainiert werden, unter anderem die Verlegung von Truppen aus den USA nach Europa. Das Manöver ist auch als ein Signal der Nato in Richtung Moskau zu verstehen: Das Manöver werde zeigen, "dass die alliierten Luftstreitkräfte das Bündnisgebiet jederzeit schlagkräftig verteidigen können", heißt es in einem Informationsschreiben des "Zentrums Luftoperationen" der Luftwaffe.

Die "Zeitenwende" erfordert auch wieder verstärkte militärische Übungstätigkeiten, um Sicherheit zu gewährleisten und somit unsere Freiheit und die unserer Bündnispartner zu wahren. (Informationsschreiben der Bundeswehr)
